Zombies!

Zombies!

My work place is actually located in front of Caloocan Public High School, it’s one of the largest public school in Caloocan City and of course one of the most populous school too, As in! Sobrang daming ng students nila na kapag uwian na nila nakakatakot sumabay ng uwi, parang magkakaraoon ng stampede anytime.

Dumog diba?  kinda reminds you of this…

Parang attack lang ng mga zombies diba? On monday, I usually get off at work exactly the same time this “attack” happens and since it’s a bit late already I have no choice but to brave these zombies… katakot talaga! and guess what… counter flow pa talaga nila ang route ko. Extra Challenge talaga!

Isang semester lang naman to’ng kalokohan na ito, whee!!

Sex and The City 2: A Fantasy Sequel

Sex and The City 2: A Fantasy Sequel

I love Sex and the City. I’ve been a fan eversince I caught an episode way back in the 90′s on RPN-9. I love everything about it. The girls, the city, the witty lines, the fashion, the storyline… Everything!

I mourned when the series ended, just like any addiction I tried to find new shows to to fill the empty space SATC left. Desperate Housewives, Cashmere Mafia and the likes came but it never been able to fill the shoes the way SATC had but after sometime and a quite few, well not actually few, reruns and watching the entire series again in DVD, I was happy that Sex and the City ended the way it has. It was just perfect. The girls left the viewers with a hopeful ending. The modern princesses finally have their “happily ever after”.

Just like any other fans, I was ecstatic with the news of a SATC movie. I can never have enough of the girls! The first movie was a treat, it further the “Happily Ever After”, Carrie got married, Charlotte got pregnant, Miranda’s marriage survives a test and Samantha… well, is back to being single. It was already a perfect epilogue to the series, though I really don’t approve of Samantha getting single again.

Comes the second movie. I had fun and still is a fan after watching it though I think of the second movie as a fantasy sequel, it’s a dream, it nerver really happened. Hahaha! Come on! It’s not Sex and The City anymore!  It felt like an entire new universe!

First of all, I miss New York. It’s always been considered as the fifth main character. Abu Dhabi is crazy, fantasy crazy. I literally whispered to myself “Oh no, they won’t” when the Arab women reveal their designer dresses, that’s way too camp. As in. Come on!

The only scene that I can remember that’s really a SATC scene to it’s purest form is the bar scene with Miranda and Charlotte, that’s what they really would do if they’ve got problems they talk about it over brunch or over martinis not run around Abu Dhabi.

It was a brave attempt fo the team to actually get out of the fairytale mold, SATC 2 is the girls life after “Happily Ever After” and it’s a bit sad to see them not that “happy”.

But just like any other fan. I love it. Yes, it’s flawed in so many ways but it’s nice seeing old friends. Do i want more of SATC? Hell yeah!

The Carrie Diaries: Bradshaw Before Sex and The City

The Carrie Diaries: Bradshaw Before Sex and The City

They say a lot can happen in a summer. Or not. it’s the first day of senior year, and as far as I can tell, I’m exactly the same as last year- Carrie Bradshaw, first line in the book.

This is an accidental purchase. I needed to burn time awhile ago inside a mall. I went to National Bookstore to check some books. Medyo nangangati yung kamay ko na bumili ng Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief kahit meron ng kopya si Mr. O…. While contemplating if I’m gonna buy Percy Jackson, this book bursts out into my sight!

I bought it immediately kahit pa doble siya ng presyo ng Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief. Buhay ito ni Carrie Bradshaw, di na dapat pinag-iisipan! I scanned the pages, ibang style ang ginamit ni Bushnell, parang she adapted na how Sex and the City  the series works, honestly, I never finished yung Sex and the City book, too New York for me. I think this one is a bit lighter since Carrie is still in High School here.

I love the cover, it’s so LV’s Stephen Sprouse and it looks like a purse. cuteness! If you look closely, may initials rin na CB. Shushality!

I’ll read na. Bye!

Clash Of The Barretos

Clash Of The Barretos

It’s been the talk of the town for the entire week, the “Clash Of The Barretos”. Well, for their respectives show that is… Gretchen Barreto stars in another Maalaala Mo Kaya episode shown on ABS-CBN while Claudine Barreto kickstarts her new drama anthology in GMA7 titled Claudine. I think ABS-CBN deliberately made sure that the new show starring their ex-primetime star would have a tight competition in terms of ratings and who better to match her sparkle than her very own controversial sister, Gretchen Barreto. Well, I really don’t care about the rating games, I’ve got nothing to gain there, what I care about is who rocked it, who nailed their performance right on and who delivered the goods well..

Here’s the verdict…

Claudine definitely brought drama in a “The Notebook” inspired episode of her new drama anthology but it lacks depth, it did’nt created a moment for her, I think the producer wasn’t able to give a memorable opening salvo for their new show. Sayang yung team up nila ni Raymart Santiago, sana they have saved the team up for a later episode and just concentrated on an episode that really make Claudine star shine again. Well, there’s always next week, I hope they get to give Claudine a drama piece worthy of her prowess.

Gretchen rocked it! Well, in the first place, panalo yung character na binigay sa kanya. flawed, may depth at may different dimensions, Her first MMK episode was great, I always thought that it was a “one time, big time” performance, that she can’t outdo herself anymore. Well, kumabog siya dito. How she throw her lines and how she conveys the right emotions was all “pasok sa banga”. Congrats Gretchen!

Adam Lambert Is Officially OUT!

Adam Lambert Is Officially OUT!

adam-lambert-gay-rolling-stone-cover

What a way to come out!! He’s such an inspiration, he makes coming out so hot…Rolling Stone and all..such class!

Here’s snippet of his interview:

Adam on coming out: “I don’t think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear that I’m gay…. I’m proud of my sexuality. I embrace it. It’s just another part of me [But] I’m trying to be a singer, not a civil rights leader.”

Adam on realizing he was gay growing up: “I started to realize I wasn’t like every other boy. I realized that we all have our own power, and that whatever I wanted to do, I had to make happen.”

On his run on American Idol:”I was like, ‘I’m going to glue rhinestones on my eyelids, b—-!’ Right after the finale, I almost started talking about [being gay] to the reporters, but I thought, ‘I’m going to wait for Rolling Stone, that will be cooler.’ I didn’t want the Clay Aiken thing and the celebrity-magazine bulls—. I need to be able to explain myself in context… Clay Aiken’s gay, and I’m gay, and we couldn’t be more different. The only thing that is the same about everyone in the gay community is that we’re gay. … Why can’t we talk about a human community?”

On getting attention from fangirls: “I loved it this season when the girls went crazy for me. As far as I’m concerned, it’s all hot.”

On sharing a bedroom with Idol winner Kris Allen: “They put me with the cute guy. Distracting! He’s the one guy I found attractive in the whole group on the show: nice, nonchalant, pretty and totally my type — except that he has a wife. I mean he’s open-minded and liberal, but he’s definitely 100% straight.”

On gaining self-confidence through Idol: “I finally checked into my self-worth for the first time in my life, and the fact that it coincided with Idol is so sweet. I mean, I still have moments where I think, ‘Oh, my skin is terrible, and I’m a little fat — I should really go to the gym more.’ But for the most part, when I look in the mirror now, I finally see somebody who can do something cool.

My Top Gay TV Characters

My Top Gay TV Characters

We usually get addicted to a TV show once we fell in love with a character in it, we follow their lives and struggles, we cry, laugh and get irritated with them, usually we like these character because they remind us of ourselves, our own lives and struggles and as a gay guy, it’s nice to know that some TV shows braved the moralist by writing fabulous yet realistic gay character and as a salute, I present to you the top TV gay characters.

 1. Matt Fielding (Melrose Place)- I wasn’t really a follower of the show but did catch a couple of episodes, one of which was the one where Matt kissed another guy, that was one of those childhood moments of mine where I entertained the thought that I could be gay. Hehehe! Thanks Matt!

2. Jack Mcphee (Dawson’s Creek)- He was Joey Potter’s boyfriend before he came out of the closet and eventually had a relationship with Pacey Whitter’s gay brother. It was nice that a gay character was acknowledged on a teen show though it would have been nice if his gayness was more explored in the show.

3. Queer as Folks guys- Again, I wasn’t able to follow this one religiously but I salute this show for being so brave by not apologizing the character’s sexuality but celebrating it.

4. Jack Mcfarland (Will and Grace)- one of the funniest gay TV character ever made, he was funny but not in a discrimating way, he was funny because he somehow pictured the flamboyant, happy gay in all of us.

5. Will Truman (Will and Grace)- The charming gay lawyer who lives with his girl bestfriend. Will, I think is the most realistic gay TV character ever to grace sitcoms. His struggles on his lovelife, his relationship with his lovable yet neurotic friends and his pride in his sexuality is so gay that we can all relate to it.

6. Marc St. James (Ugly Betty)- though his character is bordering into the antagonist mold, he still somehow shown gay fabulousness. His taste for fashion, his zest to make it to the top and his loyalty to Wilhelmina make him so gay lovable.

7. Justin Suarez (Ugly Betty)- My favorite of them all. Gayness at it’s most innocent form, when all that matter was if our shoes matches our shirt or if we’ll be able to snag the lead parts in the school musical. One of my favorite scene was when he was singing “good morning baltimore” on the train, I swear! it’s a winner scene.

8. Andrew Van De Kamp (Desperate Housewives)- the prodigal gay son. Though his representation is not all positive, it’s still nice to see that the writers of the show tried to keep him human and give his character struggles that some gay guy go through sometime.

9. Stanford Blatch (Sex and the City)- Carrie Bradshaw’s ever supportive friend, he also represented how loyal gays are to their friends, I adore him so much, specially the time when he was dating the cute broadway dancer. It’s also nice to know that on the movie, he eventually patched things up with Anthony Marantino, We gays should stick together!

10. Kevin Walker (Brothers and Sisters)- I think Kevin is the most complex and consistent of the gay TV characters, he’s one of the less dysfunctional character on the show, he’s very much accepted by his family, who doesn’t make an issue about his sexuality. An intelligent and competent lawyer, He’s only dilemma is his lovelife and I think most gays are like him. Very successful career wise but struggling lovelife wise.

Sex and the City Movie

Sex and the City Movie

The girls are back!!!

For the Manolo minions this news is downright orgasmic: Sex and the City is coming back.

After three years of near-incessant rumblings that Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, Charlotte York and Samantha Jones would rendezvous for one more round of cosmos, E! News has confirmed that HBO and New Line Cinema have teamed up to finally give the girls the big-screen sendoff (or, possibly, rebirth) fans have been waiting for.

Sources say that production on the long-gestating, headline-grabbing movie version will begin early this fall with all four leading ladies—Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis and Kim Cattrallset to reprise their iconic roles.

New Line’s offices are closed for the Independence Day holiday, but an official announcement is expected next week.

Cattrall’s official announcement, however, came Thursday.

“I really am so flattered because I feel that people actually do miss the show and the characters,” she told London’s Heart Radio. “I thought that the series really ended so well and to reopen it it would have to be a great script. As with any project that you do it really starts and ends with the script, you’ve got to ask the questions: Who are the characters? Where will they go? What will their journey be? Will people be interested?”

On the last question, at least, the answer is a resounding yes.

A Sex and the City film has been rumored since 2004, when in her flurry of exit interviews, Parker assuaged fan fears with none-too-subtle hints that the HBO zeitgeist show’s series finale wouldn’t mean the last of the fab foursome.

But as anticipation grew, so too apparently did Cattrall’s demands. In 2005, when the other three actresses were all locked in to the project, Cattrall reportedly held out for a payday on par with Parker’s, whose salary was greater than her costars due to her added role as executive producer.

After more tabloid-ready reports of infighting between the women surfaced, along with rumors that Cattrall was also seeking script approval, the project stalled and plans for the film seemed irreparable.

Earlier this year, however, both Parker and Cattrall gave new hope to Sex addicts.

While out promoting her new clothing line, Bitten, Parker fielded the inevitable questions about a big-screen reunion.

“Never say never,” she said. “It was such a great show, it would be fantastic to go back.”

The Emmy winner also put the kibosh on speculation that a supposed rift between costars scuttled the Sex and the City movie. “It is a very complicated puzzle to put back,” she said, “but not for the reason that people speculate about, because as far as I know, all of the actresses want to be together again for this movie.”

Cattrall chimed in that she had not ruled out reprising her man-devouring role.

“With regard to a movie, I really can’t say,” she said. “There is a lot of speculation but, just put it this way, I don’t want to jinx anything.”

When the show ended its HBO run in 2004, each of the women wound up paired off with her beau: Carrie with Mr. Big, Miranda with Steve, Charlotte with Harry and Samantha with Smith. While no deals have been inked to bring the menfolk back, negotiations for supporting players are expected to begin closer to the production date, with Chris Noth expected to reprise his Big role.

Details of the script are being kept under tight wraps, although it’s unlikely the film will pick up immediately where the series left off, if for no other reason than the slight aging of the actresses.

Longtime executive producer Michael Patrick King has already written the film and will also serve as director. King will also produce the pic alongside Parker, series producer John Melfi and series creator Darren Star.

The Battle Of the Accents!

My DVD copy of ANTM cyle 8 is pirated, so what do you expect? it lacks the final 2 episodes…kainis diba? kung kelan tatlo na lang sila!? Well, maraming salamat sa Youtube, I’ve finally got the chance to see the final catwalk of Natasha and Jaslene. Kabugan talaga! Tyra Banks, the creator and host of the hit TV show tagged the final catwalk as the Battle Of The Accents since both model have  really thick accents. one is Puerto Rican and the other is Russian.
